Olympic Weather August 9th 2008

Well the Olympics are now underway and after a spectacular opening ceremony it's down to business for the athletes.

After a sweltering day yesterday it's going to be another hot one today with temperartures in the 90's and high humidity, not ideal really. We shouldn't have these problems in 2012 if the current British summer is anything to go by (it's currently chucking it down just about across the whole country).

The air quality in Beijing isn't too bad....described again as hazy...but I still wouldn't want to be running around and throwing things very far in that heat.

There is a chance of thunderstorms rolling in for the next couple of days and this will take the edge of the temperatures with overnight lows into the low 70's and daytime temperatures around the mid 80's. It will feel much more comfortable.

I'm driving off to Newcastle now....but will be back later to check the weather and see how our fine athletes are coping!

Bye for now

Mark
